Benjamin Joseph Toon, age 71 of Waverly, Indiana, died July 17, 2007 in Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Indiana. He was born December 25, 1935 in Franklin, Indiana to the late Harold E. and Georgia F. Woods Toon.
Mr. Toon was a 1954 graduate of Martinsville High School. He had been a truck driver for 33 years and was a member of Teamsters Local #135. In addition, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. He was an avid bowler and had bowled in seven different leagues. He also was known many years ago as having played the guitar on the Jack Knoll Show, which aired on Channel 4. He proudly served in the United States Army.
Benjamin was also preceded in death by a brother Charles P. Toon.
Survivors include his son Robert B. Toon of Waverly, Indiana; daughter Carrie S. Hale of Waverly, Indiana; brothers Harold L. Toon of Whiteland, Indiana and William D. Toon of Gasburg, Indiana; sister Virginia Woodall of Whiteland, Indiana; granddaughter Jennifer M. Hale; 4 nieces; 3 nephews and 15 grand nieces and grand nephews.
Calling will be held from 4-8 P.M., Friday, July 20, 2007 in Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, Indiana. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, July 21, 2007 in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Waverly, Indiana. Rev. Dan Moore will officiate.
