  07/08/2007 - Verdain S. "Dain" Doehr

Verdain S. “Dain” Doehr, 79, Mooresville, Indiana; formerly of Shoreview, Minnesota, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, in St. Francis South Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born on September 7, 1927 in Kingsford, Michigan, to the late Helmuth and Olga (Olson) Doehr.

 

Mr. Doehr graduated from Michigan Tech University and worked in quality control in the electronic industry for many years.  He retired from Lockheed Martin in Minnesota in 1992.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Way, Shoreview, Minnesota.  In addition, he was a member of the American Society for Quality Control, having served as the chair of the Minnesota branch.  He was also a member of the Volvo Sport America Club and Friends of 261, which helped to restore and operate steam locomotives. 

 

Mr. Doehr proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. 

 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Doehr and Dale Doehr. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Bockoven) Doehr; they were united in marriage on Dec. 14, 1957; sons, Dane Doehr of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brett Doehr of Plymouth, Minnesota; daughters, Lisa Riedl (George) of Aurora, Illinois, Linda Cannon (Mark) of Mooresville, Indiana; sisters, Muriel Hadcock of Coldwater, Michigan, Ruth Doehr of Kingsford, Michigan; brother, Everett Doehr (Gerri) of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Ryan and Tommy Cannon; Clara Riedl.

 

Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, Indiana.  Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Faull at 7 p.m. in the funeral chapel.  A memorial service will be held in The Presbyterian Church of the Way, 3382 N. Lexington Ave., Shoreview, Minnesota, on Saturday, July 14, 2007.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, St. Anthony, Minnesota.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to benefit Inclusion Body Myositis.
