Helen Anita Hilt Short, 84, Mooresville, Indiana, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville.  Mrs. Short was born on April 4, 1923, in Hendricks County, Indiana to the late Roy Clifford and Annie Jane (McInnis) Hilt.  

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Russell Hilt and Edward Hilt; son, Richard Eugene Short; sister, Betty Hamilton.  She was the widow of Delpha Louis Short who preceded her in death in 1978. 

Mrs. Short worked as the head cashier at Kroger in Mooresville for 32 years, retiring in 1983.  In addition, she was a member of the Mooresville VFW Auxiliary. 

Survivors include her friend, Russell Duhamell of Mooresville; son, Larry E. Short of Alabama; sisters, Margie Perry of Martinsville, Mary Goble of Martinsville, Lois Lebo of Martinsville; Grandchildren, Kara Snow of Mooresville, Rhonda Wallen of Belle Union, Tim Hensley of Danville; 8 Great Grandchildren. 

Friends and family will gather on Monday, July 9, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 10 AM in the funeral chapel.  Pastor Don Endsley will officiate.  Burial will be in Mooresville Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Donors Favorite Charity
