Donald K. Corbin, 73, Brooklyn, Indiana, died July 4, 2007. Mr. Corbin was born April 4, 1934 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Clyde and Geneva (Owens) Corbin.
Mr. Corbin worked for Conrail Rail Road in Avon for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Additionally, he had worked as a contractor for Farm Bureau Insurance, had worked in the restaurant industry, at the stone quarry in Bloomington, and in the steel mills in Hammond. He was a former member of the Bloomington Moose Lodge. Mr. Corbin served two terms on the Brooklyn Town Board. He also served in the Indiana National Guard. He enjoyed dancing, telling jokes, and family gatherings.
Mr. Corbin was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Corbin; sisters, Jeanette Tandy, Frances Willie, Louise Herman, Joyce Corbin; grandson, Jeff Ward. He was the widower of Olena (Dick) Corbin who died in 1967.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie A. Cohen Corbin; to whom he married on June 14, 1975; son, Randy Corbin of Austin, TX; daughters, Shelia Helms of Bloomington, IN, Sabrina Wemer of Indianapolis, IN, Kimberly Corbin of Indianapolis, IN; step son, Douglas Cohen of Martinsville, IN; step daughters, Debra Cohen of Monrovia, IN, Janet Helms of Monrovia, IN; brother, Wallace Corbin of Bloomington, IN; sister, Jean Quillen of Houston, TX; 15 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, July 6, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral chapel with Pastor Bill Burkley officiating. Committal and burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Clear Creek Cemetery, south of Bloomington.
